5 Lifestyle Bloggers to Follow (Travel, Fashion, & Makeup) – January 2017

Hello everyone! Happy Tuesday ❤

Last month, I started a new blogging series with the goal to share some of the best sites I encounter. There was an overall positive response to the blogging series, and I received tons of support from other bloggers. I will continue showcasing five lifestyle bloggers each month; however, I will be providing more information on the focal point of each one.

Each month I feature five of the best lifestyle blogs I come across and follow. The blogs featured in this favorites series are directed by individuals who have an incredible niche for fashion, makeup, and/or skincare.

The first blog that stood out in January of 2017 is Arctic Sabrina. This lifestyle blog has everything from travel journals to beauty product reviews. The content creator, Sabrina, is a full-time student who graciously vlogs about her interests and will give you extreme wanderlust with her travels. Speaking of wanderlust, the blog Hello, It’s Jo by a fashion intern has a great series on the kinds of things to do and places to visit in London.

If you are looking for fashion and styling inspiration, Mox and Socks by Devinne is a great site to visit. This simple and chic blog is a creative outlet for Chicago-based blogger Devinne. She has wonderful outfit ideas and easy to follow hair tutorials.

I personally am quite the beauty enthusiast, and there are two bloggers that have this in common with me. Desperately Seeking Lifestyle by Ellie is a fantastic site for makeup and skincare reviews. Based in Scotland, this lifestyle blog also has helpful home improvement/DIYs sprinkled in. Beauty and the Beach is another great blog that sings to a makeup lover and contains creative eye looks.

Sincerely, Ingrid Nicole

IPSY Glam Bag – January 2017

ipsy-glam-bag-janurary-2017

Ipsy is an online beauty subscription where you sample five different products (e.g. mascara, eyeshadows, etc.) mailed in a collectible bag. There’s a lovely theme each month and products you receive are personalized according to your answers in a quiz, which is taken at the beginning of the subscription.

Hello everyone! Happy Tuesday ❤

I have been subscribed to Ipsy for over a year now and continue to receive tons of beauty products I enjoy. This month’s theme is “metropolis,” and it evokes your inner “city babe” style. The colors of the collective bag seems to be designed to reflect the skyscrapers of the city life. This bag also has a series of circular cut outs, or mesh fabric, and contains what are perceived as an urban dwellers belongings.

The products I received January 2016:

  1. Beaute Basics C405 Contour Blush Brush by Crown Brush  Draping, a technique similar to contouring, is when you sculpt your cheek bones with different hues of blusher. The C405 brush may come in handy for this because the shape of the bristles align well with key areas of the face. I’m impressed by the quality of this brush in my bag this month. (I will be trying it out soon and updating here.)
  2. Rosarco™ Blow Dry Perfection Heat Protectant Crème by Briogeo – I received a handful of different sample-sized products of this brand before and LOVE what they do for my hair. I’m especially excited for this heat protectant since I will be experimenting with different hairstyles in the near future.
  3. Camera Ready BB Cream SPF 35 (in Light Medium) by Smashbox Cosmetics – My eye has been on the Studio Skin 15 Hour Wear Hydrating Foundation by Smashbox, but this BB Cream seems more practical for everyday wear. The shade range is not the best and can be troublesome for oily skin. It does have SPF, which is a plus in my book,  with (very!) minimal coverage.
  4. Hand Moisturizer by -417 – This brand is unknown territory for me, and the packaging was not very appealing. I do tend to have drier hands in the winter time, so I place hand lotions all around the house and make sure to always have one with me when I go out. This hand lotion is proficient at the moment and serves its purpose.
  5. Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination™ Anti-Aging Concealer (in Neutral Medium) by IT Cosmetics – A lot of people seem to like this concealer and that makes me question if I have been using it wrong somehow. I prefer the coverage and consitency of the Bye Bye Under Eye Waterproof Concealer more than this one. The shade also liked very white for a neutral medium. (I’ll be trying out different application methods and updating here.)

KL Polish in ZOEY: Review + Swatches!

Hello everyone! Happy Tuesday ❤

Kathleen Lights is a beauty vlogger with almost 3 million subscribers on YouTube and 1.6 followers on Instagram. Lights is among the select few beauty gurus I follow for all things makeup. Late last year, she released her own cruelty-free nail polish line known as KL Polish.

The 2016 winter release of KL Polish included six different nail polish shades, which are Brick Sidewalk, Broccoli & Chocolate, Caramello, Gumption!, Snickerdoodle, and Zoey. One of the shades that stood out most to me is Zoey, a delicate mauve tone, and it is the first nail polish I have tried from her line.

Product Details*

This vegan nail polish by Kathleen Lights is in ZOEY, a creme finish shade, and named after her best friend’s daughter. According to KL Polish’s website, the shade is described as a “mauve” that will add “subtle style to your nails.” It retails for $8.50 USD and contains 12 ml/0.41 fl. oz. The brush on the wand is flat, wide, and rounded.

*It is a “5-free” nail polish, meaning it does not contain the harmful chemicals Dibutyl Phthalate, Toluene, Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, and Camphor.

Swatches

There are two generous coats of ZOEY polish on these nails. The mauve toned nail polish is also swatched on three different skin tones on the KL Polish website.

Final Thoughts

When I first received the nail polish, the shade looked slightly darker than what I had in my head. Nonetheless, it is a great dusty mauve with a slight purple undertone that compliments many skin tones. I like the simple packaging, especially the chic black soft matte cap, and love the wide brush on the wand.

The rounded point brush makes application easier and in order to get true opaque color, I only needed about two coats of polish. Initially, I felt the product was a bit pricey but had a change of heart after considering the quality of the formula. The nail polish is cruelty-free, vegan, and 5-free. I love the creme color on my nails and the longevity of the polish. Overall, I give this nail polish in ZOEY my stamp of approval and will be reviewing more shades from KL Polish in the future.
