BH Cosmetics x Carli Bybel Palette: First Impressions + Swatches!

Hello everyone! Happy Wednesday ❤

I have a hand-full of beauty products on my wish list (don’t we all?), which range from drugstore must-haves to high-end exclusives. One product on my list stood out to me several months ago because of its lovely array of eyeshadows and highlighters. Carli Bybel, a YouTube Personalty and Beauty Guru, collaborated with BH Cosmetics and released a palette that has gained notable attention from the beauty community. I finally got ahold of this palette and included my thoughts (AND swatches!) below.

Carli Bybel Eyeshadow & Highlighter Palette .JPG

Carli Bybel designed this versatile 14 Color Eyeshadow and Highlighter Palette to dial up the drama and add excitement to your look. Carli’s taste for chic refinement and modern elegance inspired her to select a collection of earthy neutrals and plummy brown shadows with four face highlighters that complement every skin tone. (

Palette Details

The 14 Color Eyeshadow and Highlighter Palette by Carli Bybel, in collaboration with BH Cosmetics, is a vegan and cruelty-free product. The design of the packaging resembles that of a pearl loveseat with tight diamond tufting. There isn’t much weight to the product (1.68 oz), however, there’s a commendable sized mirror inside. The palette itself can be purchased at Ulta Beauty (both in stores and online!) and on BH Cosmetics’s website, retailing at $14.50Carli Bybel Palette (inside1)

The quote located inside of the palette reads: Aspire to Inspire. This is the only text visible when you open the palette and I realized the eyeshadows do not have names. The eyeshadow pans are about the size of a quarter (U.S. coin) and the highlighters are relatively larger with a flowery stamp design. This palette has a magnetic closure and does not include any additional accessories, such as a brush.

Carli Bybel Palette (inside2)

As I mentioned before, the eyeshadows and highlighters in this particular palette are not named. The first row contains four matte eyeshadows and one shimmery eyeshadow. The following row has four shimmery eyeshadows and one matte eyeshadow. Lastly, the third row is composed of four highlighters that can also be used as eyeshadows.

*Note: The images below are arranged according to the order of eyeshadows and highlighters in the palette.

Final Thoughts

I don’t personally own anything from BH Cosmetics other than this palette, so I can’t compare this eyeshadow/highlight formula with some of their other products. There are a couple of eyeshadows that are not as pigmented as I would like, specifically the fourth shadow in the first row and fifth shadow in the second row, but they do all blend easily. I love the shades created for this palette and I feel they work well for many looks.

Overall, I’m fairly impressed with the quality of the eyeshadows and highlighters in this palette. The mirror inside the palette was a pleasant surprise and although there is a bit of eyeshadow fall-out, the palette is a great value (I purchased it for $11 w/a coupon!). Most of the eyeshadows have great pigmentation and its convenient having highlighters all in one palette. I look forward to trying more products from BH Cosmetics and Carli Bybel in the future.
Sincerely, Ingrid Nicole

IPSY Glam Bag | July 2016

July 2016 Glam Bag | Ingrid Nicole

Ipsy is an online beauty subscription where you sample five different products (e.g. mascara, eyeshadows, etc.) mailed in a collectible bag. There’s a lovely theme each month and the products you receive are personalized according to your answers in a quiz, which is taken at the beginning of the subscription.

Hello everyone! Happy Wednesday ❤

The theme of July’s Ipsy glam bag is “Hot Summer Nights,” an accurate description for the Southern California weather that I’m currently experiencing. The inspirations behind this month’s bag according to Ipsy’s website were “Bonfires, BBQS, and Pool parties.” As you can see below, the bag itself has many mini umbrellas on the front (which reminds me of peppermints lol) and a chrome/oil spill pattern on the back.

The products I received July 2016:

  1. Ms. Amazing & Queen Bee Masks by SHRAY – Although I have never heard of this particular brand, the sheet masks both look promising. The first mask, Ms. Amazing, is catered for sensitive and dry skin (something I personally struggle with). I’m excited to try out this moisturizing mask and the second mask, Queen Bee, since it’s an acne-treating mask.
  2. Delectable Lemon & Cream Ultra Nourishing Hand Cream from Delectable by Cake Beauty – I typically don’t care for hand creams in the summer because the heat makes lotions feel extra greasy. Luckily, I sampled this hand cream on a cool (indoors) day and found this product has some nourishing skin benefits. The fragrance “lemon & cream” lingers a bit though and is pretty strong.
  3. Professional Contour Eyeshadow Brush (4) by VASANTI COSMETICS – I. love. brushes. I enjoy receiving them in my glam bag and so was looking forward to trying this one out. The long bristles are meant to make contouring your eyes easier and I feel like it will work well for the crease.
  4. Hangover Replenishing Face Primer by Too Faced – Too Faced is one of my favorite high end, cruelty-free makeup brands out there. One of their most talked about products in the beauty community is the Hangover Face Primer. I’m excited to finally try this beauty out and share if it;s worth purchasing full-size in the future.
  5. Meet Matt(e) Trimony Eyeshadow (in Matt Moskowitz) by theBalm Cosmetics – theBalm Cosmetics is (also) a cruelty-free brand and one I wish to explore more of. I heard (and read) raving reviews on several of their products in the past, so I was thrilled when I discovered I was going to be able to try one of their eyeshadows. The color I received is a moody purple, plum and it’s quite blendable.July 2016 Glam Bag Sheet Mask (1)July 2016 Glam Bag Sheet Mask (2)July 2016 Glam Bag Hand LotionJuly 2016 Glam Bag BrushJuly 2016 Glam Bag PrimerJuly 2016 Glam Bag Eyeshadow

Kiko Milano Haul – PART TWO

Hello everyone! Happy Friday ❤

I have been away for some time now… I think we all experience a blogging hiccup at some point and need to keep away from the brightly lit-screens in order to recharge. Since I am feeling better than ever after my (relatively “short”) break, I will be posting on Wednesdays AND Fridays from here on out.

Today, I bring you part two of my Kiko Milano Haul! (You can find part one here my friend.) As I mentioned before, I picked up goodies from a Kiko Milano store during my time in Rome. The goodies shown below can best be categorized as lip products, which range from pinky lip liners to exfoliating lip scrubs.

Kiko Haul Pt. 2

Lip Liners

I’ve actually never been big on lip liners until recently. In the past, most of the lip liners I came across were not very creamy, which made application pretty unpleasant. After trying celebrity Kylie Jenner’s Lip Kit in Candy K, I came to the conclusion that creamy lip liners exist and are out there.

I picked up the CREAMY COLOUR Comfort Lip Liner (302) in Warm Rose from a Kiko Milano stand because it’s a pretty color and claims to “glide on” the lips easily. I also found another product with the same promise but in a waterproof formula, the EVERLASTING COLOUR Precision Lip Liner (406) in Pink. What is interesting about this automatic lip liner is there’s a built-in sharpener on the tail of the pencil.Kiko Milano Lip Liners

Since the brand Kiko Milano carries a wide selection of lipsticks, I chose my favorite lip shades in different finishes. I picked up two COLOUR CLICK Lipsticks in Impressionist Red (04) and Brilliant Pink (01). These lipsticks have a creamy sheen finish and also have lip liners that correspond to each shade (which is sold separately).

Another lipstick I picked is the ULTRA GLOSSY STYLO (809) in Ruby Red. I was intrigued by this particular lipstick because it contains SPF 15. I realized at the store that the lip products I chose were glossy, sheer, and creamy. It took some time, but I found a lipstick with a matte finish! The VELVET PASSION Matte Lipstick (303) in Rose felt high-end because of it’s incredible pigmentation and lovely packaging. This lipstick as the brand’s logo pressed and has a magnetic closure to ensure preservation.

Skin Care

The last two products in my Kiko Milano Haul is under the realm of skin care. I struggle with dry lips seasonally and lately no balm has been able to moisturize my lips fully. The Night Balm by Kiko Milano serves to repair lips overnight and after reading great reviews online, I decided to try it out. Another product that stood out to me was the Lip Scrub Stick, a best selling lip exfoliator.

IT Cosmetics: Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream (First Impressions)

Hello everyone! Happy Friday ❤

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working on making my makeup collection 100% cruelty-free. I found IT Cosmetics (a high-end brand) is bunny friendly and decided to try out some of their best sellers. Since summer is upon us, I felt that their CC+ cream with SPF 50+ was the perfect first product to start with!

IT Cosmetics CC+ creamWhat is IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream?

The Your Skin But Better is a full coverage color-correcting cream that promises to both hydrate and brighten skin. According to the IT Cosmetics website, this “multi-tasking [cream] will not crease or crack in fine lines.” The product itself retails for $38.00 and comes in five different shades, which includes: Fair, Light, Medium, Tan, and Rich.

This truly is an all-in-one, multi-tasking beauty miracle for your most beautiful skin! If you can’t decide between light and medium, definitely choose medium, I wear medium everyday, it really adjusts to your skin tone perfectly!  -Jamie Kern Lima (founder)

Your Skin But Better

Product Review

Doesn’t this CC cream sound great? (I mean, it is called Your Skin But Better.)

I would like to point out that this product comes with a pump. I personally prefer this kind of lovely packaging because you’re able to better control the amount of product that comes out. A little seems to go a long way with the CC+ cream and I found it applies best with my fingers. The product itself has a very potent citrusy smell, so this may be a deal-breaker for some people.

The shade range for this CC+ cream is quite small (only five shades). I took Jamie Lima’s advice about choosing medium and surprisingly found it matched really well! However, I wouldn’t exactly say its full coverage. It’s more medium to full coverage and the formula may pose a problem for oily skin people. My t-zone is primarily the area where I need to blot, so I had to do a little extra blotting when I wore the cream. Overall, I really do like the finish (which is in between dewy and matte) and have been reaching for this product for my everyday ‘natural’ look.

Sincerely, Ingrid Nicole

Wet ‘n Wild Beauty | Hits or Misses

Hello everyone! Happy Friday ❤

With temperatures slowly rising here in Southern California (and summer around the corner!), I felt that my go-to makeup routine needed some updating. Summer, for me, tends to be the ideal time for more natural, glowy looks. Wet ‘n Wildan affordable cruelty-free makeup brand, released several new products in their spring/summer collection and also reformulated some of their original products. I picked up a few of their goodies from my local drugstore and after trying them out for a couple of weeks, I’m here to share if they’re hits or misses!

Wet 'n Wild Beauty | Alive & Living

Au Naturel EyeShadow Palette – Bare Necessities 753A

I picked up this eyeshadow palette mainly because it was under five (or six?) dollars. I didn’t swatch it at the store or anything, but the colors were pretty enough to make it into my shopping basket. The packaging is sleek and the palette includes a double-sided eyeshadow applicator inside (the kind that doesn’t last very long though). There are 10 shadows in total, eight of which are shimmery. There are two brown toned mattes shades and each shade is labelled as a number (from left to right). These shadows are pretty pigmented, blend fairly very well, but are more powdery than buttery.

Photo Focus Setting Spray

WetnWild Photo Focus Setting Spray

According to the Wet ‘n Wild website, this makeup setting spray claims to be a “weightless formula” that will “extend makeup wear.” I used this spray multiple times, sometimes switching out products to test out the longevity, and must agree that this product does what it says it will. The spray nozzle releases product evenly and the formula doesn’t make your face feel sticky or dry. For less than five dollars, your makeup will last most of the day with this setting spray (it’s amazing!).

MegaGlo Illuminating Palette – Catwalk Pink 320

I’m all for that twinkling highlighted skin, especially during the spring and summer. This Illuminating Palette reminded me of Physician’s Formula Shimmer Strips and since it’s more affordable, I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, there isn’t much color payoff with this product, even with the new formula. It was much to sheer to me and I found it wasn’t very visible on the skin. I tried mixing all the shades together but it still wasn’t enough to make a noticeable difference.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I feel that Wet ‘n Wild is a promising brand that has some great products. I was pleasantly surprised by the Au Naturel Eyeshadow palette in Bare Necessities 753A and think the colors are absolutely lovely. It’s definitely a hit. Another product that I particularly enjoy (more like love!) is the Photo Focus Setting Spray. Seriously, track it down and try it. It’s a hit for me! Lastly, the MegaGlo Illuminating palette didn’t do much for me so it’s a miss in my book, but maybe it could work for you.

What Wet ‘n Wild products have you tried? Any recommendations?

Sincerely, Ingrid Nicole

Makeup Geek x MannyMUA Palette: Review + Swatches!

Hello Everyone! Happy Friday<3

Today, I bring you the MannyMUA eyeshadow palette in collaboration with Makeup Geek! I’ve seen this palette all over the internet, especially Instagram and Youtube, and due to popular demand, it has been restocked! I was able to purchase one for myself and decided to share with you all my first impressions. For those who do not know MannyMUA, he’s a beauty vlogger with (last time I checked!) over one million YouTube subscribers. He collaborated with Makeup Geek, a cruelty-free cosmetics brand, and came out with this eyeshadow palette. So, is this palette worth the hype? Let’s find out.

MannyMUA palette x Makeup Geek.jpg

Makeup Geek x MannyMua Palette Details

The palette contains nine eyeshadows and an impressive sized mirror inside. Four of the shadows are part of Makeup Geek’s permanent collection, while the other five shadows were customized by beauty vlogger MannyMUA. Personally, I think the packaging is lovely and feel that there’s a good mix of matte, shimmery, and foiled shadows. This palette is on the pricer side though, retailing at $45, but if you do the math, you’ll discover you actually do save a bit. Each pan of (traditional) powder formulated eyeshadow is about $6 and each foil formulated eyeshadow is $10 at Makeup Geek. So, since this palette has seven powder and two foiled formulated shadows, it would come out to $62 (wow!).

According to the Makeup Geek website, the eyeshadows (which are listed in order of how they’re featured by rows in the palette) are described as:

  • Artemis – “a muted champagne yellow with a shimmery finish”
  • Beaches & Cream* – “a soft peachy beige with a matte finish”
  • Luna – “a medium rose gold with a foiled finish”
  • Cosmopolitan* – “a gold-flecked medium rose with a shimmery finish”
  • Sora – “a medium earthy terra-cotta with a matte finish”
  • Frappe* – “a medium maple brown with a matte finish”
  • Insomnia* – “a warm red brown with blue reflects and a foiled finish”
  • Mars – “a deep cherry red with a matte finish”
  • Aphrodite – “a deep plum brown with a mate finish”

*Note: These eyeshadows are part of Makeup Geek‘s permanent collection. The shade Insomnia is only available for purchase as a loose pigment, with the exception of the pressed version found in this limited edition palette.MannyMUA x Makeup Geek

Final Thoughts

I had never purchased eyeshadows from Makeup Geek Cosmetics (until now), but was pleasantly surprised by both the brand’s professionalism and quality products. MannyMUA’s palette cover had a Gatsby feel to it, due to the black and metallic designs, and I found this palette contains perfect transition shades. The shadows themselves are very blendable and can create simple to full glam looks fit for many occasions. I like how compact the palette is, which will come in handy for traveling this summer, and overall think the palette was worth the splurge. MannyMUA palette swatches

This palette can be worn by anyone and everyone regardless of age or race- I wanted to make sure of that! I worked so hard on this palette and I couldn’t be happier with the results!-MannyMUA

IPSY Bag | March 2016.jpg

Ipsy is an online beauty subscription where you sample five different products (mascara, eyeshadows, etc.) mailed in a collectible bag. There’s a lovely theme each month and the products you receive are personalized according to your answers in a quiz, which is taken at the beginning of the subscription.

Hello everyone! Happy Thursday ❤

My spring break has come to an end, so I am back at University. I can’t believe there are three months left in the school year! Where has the time gone?! As I mentioned in my last post, I took a mini break from blogging so I could spend time with my family on holiday. I received my lovely Ipsy bag during this break and I’m so excited to share it with you all. The theme this month is “Hello Spring” and the glam bag has a fresh floral print. What’s new this time around though, is the bag comes in three different colors (orange, mint, and blue!). I received the lovely orange with mint glam bag, which you can see below, and various beauty products.

The products I received March 2016:

  1. LIP LACQUER Lip Gloss (Socialite) by ModelCo – I normally reach for matte lip products (in natural shades) on a regular basis. Lip glosses and I just don’t get along very well. But when I received this lippy, which promised to be “non-sticky and long-lasting,” I kept an open mind. Sadly, the lip gloss didn’t wear very well throughout the day and I found it pretty sticky. The gloss smells like a fruity candy though and the color is pretty (more orange than red).
  2. Rose Gold Short Shader (Brush 223) by Luxie Beauty – I absolutely love brushes (especially when they’re durable and have soft bristles)! This brush by Luxie has high quality bristles that applies eyeshadow like a dream and is fully vegan. The pink and rose gold brush is cruelty-free and extremely practical.
  3. Step 1 Skin Equalizer (Hydrating Primer) by MAKE UP FOR EVER – The Make Up For Ever primer I received is ideal for normal skin and works to balance the skin’s texture. This is probably the product I was excited to try the most and I wasn’t disappointed. The formula is lightweight, kept my face hydrated, and made my make-up last longer.
  4. Bake Bronzer (Heat Wave) by Be A Bombshell Cosmetics – I like the idea of a baked bronzer with a more natural tone for the spring time, which is what this product was meant for. Unfortunately, the bronzer doesn’t have a great color-payoff and I personally think its better used as highlighter.
  5. Nourishing Argan Oil of Morocco by Marc Anthony – This product is used when blow drying your hair and works to keep hair straight (and eliminate frizz!) for up to three days. I hardly ever blow dry my hair so I don’t see myself using this product often. It has a pleasant smell though and leaves your hair very soft.
