Blogger Recognition Award

blogger-recognition-award
Hello everyone! Happy Tuesday ❤
.
Since my lifestyle blog Alive & Living is relatively new and has room for improvements, I appreciate those who reach out and express how my work has resonated with them. I feel honored to share that I have been nominated for the “Blogger Recognition Award” by Little Beauty Book this past week. This award, which I did not see coming (lol), is an innovative way to connect the blogging community and commend the work of other dedicated bloggers.

Award Guidelines

Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog. [Then, w]rite a post to show your award [and briefly explain the] story of how your blog started. Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers [and] select other bloggers you want to give this award to. [Please remember to] comment on each blog [with] the link to the post you created [so they] know you have nominated them.

Beginnings

There were lots of things that inspired me to start blogging, but my family and friends inspired me most. These lovely people would always tell me that I am a creative and resourceful person, which basically motivated me to share what I have to say with the world. Once I joined Pinterest and discovered YouTube, I knew I wanted to be part of this online world and gave blogging a try.

In this time and day, I learned people are alive but not always living. They are just going through the motions and sometimes do not pursue their passions or interests. I believe we should live life to the fullest and so named my blog Alive & Living, for it encompasses my life mantra. This little blog of mine is a creative outlet where I can talk about all things beauty, display my fashion evolution, try DIYs/crafts, and more.

Advise For New Bloggers

There are many things I have leaned about blogging through trial and error. If you are a new blogger (or even an experienced one!), I recommend creating AND updating a plan of action for postings. What I mean by this is establish a blogging schedule for brainstorming ideas, prepping, and executing your work. I found that consistency is key for blog growth and traffic. Another tip for bloggers is to find others in the blogging community that share your same interests and network. You can learn from their experiences, find inspiration for your content, build friendships, and make blogging worthwhile this way.

Nominations

I would like to recognize the quality and unique content from the following blogs:

  1.      Antonia Robinson
  2.      Busy Bee
  3.      The Chic Community
  4.      Currently, Lately
  5.      Dolled Up By J
  6.      The Homemaker’s Life
  7.      Jessica Jade Beauty
  8.      Of Pixie Dust
  9.      SIMPLY UNDONE
  10.      THIS IS MY BLISS

Morphe 35O Eyeshadow Palette: First Impressions + Swatches

morphe-35o-eyeshadow-palette
Hello everyone! Happy Friday ❤

Morphe is a cosmetics brand known for their quality makeup brushes and sought after eyeshadow palettes. After hearing raving reviews from (several) YouTube Beauty Gurus, I purchased one of Morphe‘s best-sellers to see what the hype was all about. The 35O – 35 Color Nature Glow Eyeshadow Palette was a difficult product to get ahold of. Although it’s an affordable palette and contains an array of colors, is this palette really worth the hassle and price?

Palette Details

The 35O palette contains 35 natural matte and shimmery eyeshadows. It retails for $22.99 USD (but there are discount codes online!) and it comes in black 9 x 6 1/2 inch case. The case itself is hard plastic and does not include a mirror or any other additional accessories. Also, the eyeshadows in this palette are not labelled on the front or back.

First Impressions

Since the 35O – 35 Color Nature Glow Eyeshadow Palette contains a wide range of shadows to choose from, you can create several different looks with a single palette. The palette is compact and perfect for on the go and travel. The price of the product is one of its best attributes, however, there are some inconsistencies with the formulation. Some of the matte eyeshadows are patchy and others aren’t as blendable.

Have you tried or reviewed this product? Share your experiences below!

Sincerely, Ingrid Nicole

A Day In Los Angeles – August 2016

Hello everyone! Happy Friday ❤

I spent a lovely day in Los Angeles, California, last weekend and attended the Eight Annual Tanabata Festival. I enjoyed delicious food at this festival, visited the Japanese American National Museum, and strolled through the shops in Little Tokyo. The museum held an incredible exhibit on the artistry of the (stop-motion) film Kubo and the Two Strings, which is now in theaters, so I decided to share my day with you.

Kiko Milano Haul – PART TWO

Hello everyone! Happy Friday ❤

I have been away for some time now… I think we all experience a blogging hiccup at some point and need to keep away from the brightly lit-screens in order to recharge. Since I am feeling better than ever after my (relatively “short”) break, I will be posting on Wednesdays AND Fridays from here on out.

Today, I bring you part two of my Kiko Milano Haul! (You can find part one here my friend.) As I mentioned before, I picked up goodies from a Kiko Milano store during my time in Rome. The goodies shown below can best be categorized as lip products, which range from pinky lip liners to exfoliating lip scrubs.

Kiko Haul Pt. 2

Lip Liners

I’ve actually never been big on lip liners until recently. In the past, most of the lip liners I came across were not very creamy, which made application pretty unpleasant. After trying celebrity Kylie Jenner’s Lip Kit in Candy K, I came to the conclusion that creamy lip liners exist and are out there.

I picked up the CREAMY COLOUR Comfort Lip Liner (302) in Warm Rose from a Kiko Milano stand because it’s a pretty color and claims to “glide on” the lips easily. I also found another product with the same promise but in a waterproof formula, the EVERLASTING COLOUR Precision Lip Liner (406) in Pink. What is interesting about this automatic lip liner is there’s a built-in sharpener on the tail of the pencil.Kiko Milano Lip Liners

Lipsticks

Since the brand Kiko Milano carries a wide selection of lipsticks, I chose my favorite lip shades in different finishes. I picked up two COLOUR CLICK Lipsticks in Impressionist Red (04) and Brilliant Pink (01). These lipsticks have a creamy sheen finish and also have lip liners that correspond to each shade (which is sold separately).

Another lipstick I picked is the ULTRA GLOSSY STYLO (809) in Ruby Red. I was intrigued by this particular lipstick because it contains SPF 15. I realized at the store that the lip products I chose were glossy, sheer, and creamy. It took some time, but I found a lipstick with a matte finish! The VELVET PASSION Matte Lipstick (303) in Rose felt high-end because of it’s incredible pigmentation and lovely packaging. This lipstick as the brand’s logo pressed and has a magnetic closure to ensure preservation.

Skin Care

The last two products in my Kiko Milano Haul is under the realm of skin care. I struggle with dry lips seasonally and lately no balm has been able to moisturize my lips fully. The Night Balm by Kiko Milano serves to repair lips overnight and after reading great reviews online, I decided to try it out. Another product that stood out to me was the Lip Scrub Stick, a best selling lip exfoliator.

Kiko Milano Haul – PART ONE

Hello everyone! Happy Friday ❤

I traveled to Italy recently and shared some of my favorite places I visited in last week’s post (view “A Week In Rome” here!). While in Rome, I did a bit of shopping and came across a Kiko Milano store. Kiko Milano is an Italian cosmetics brand that strives to develop quality makeup and skin care. I’ve heard wonderful things about this brand and since I don’t have a Kiko store near me back home, I splurged on some of their bestsellers and products that stood out to me.

Mascaras

The first mascara I picked up was the Extra Sculpt Volume Mascara, a highly recommended  mascara by YouTuber/Beauty Guru Kathleen Lights. Since summer is around the corner, I decided to pick up this same mascara with a waterproof formula. The packaging of both mascaras are nearly identical, but the Extra Sculpt Waterproof Mascara has a lovely blue streak on it.

Eye Base & Eyeliner

I finished the eye primer I had by Elizabeth Mott, so I decided to try out Kiko’s Eye Base Primer. This primer is more affordable, promises to make eyeshadows last longer, and provide a better color pay-off. I picked up the Deep Black Eye Marker because I wanted a liquid eyeliner with a thicker tip to fill in bold winged cat eyes.

Nail Polishes

The Kiko Milano store I went to had a wide selection of nail polishes. The first nail polish I picked up was Candy Sprinkles Nail Lacquer (20), which I feel can be worn over other polishes or on its own. The second nail polish I got was Frozen Smoothies Nail Lacquer (10), an off white polish with a hint of light blue/gray.

Have you tried any Kiko Milano products? Any recommendations?

A Week In Rome – June 2016

Hello everyone! Happy Friday ❤

As many of you may all ready know, I have a case of extreme wanderlust. I believe traveling to other parts of the world has many benefits and allows you to learn more about yourself (as well as others). So, if you have a chance to visit a place you have never been to before go for it.

Last week, I spent some time in Rome and was left speechless by the incredible landmarks. I had great Italian food, met genuine people, and overall had a lovely experience in a city with rich history. A handful of my favorite places I visited are below and I highly recommend visiting them yourself one day.
